Metallic Materials Engineer for Wind TurbinesDescription
- To report to the team leader of the metallic structures group as part of the integrated project team.
- To elaborate according to the planning and quality standards the deliverables of the product development design process: materials specifications, test specifications, test reports, etc.
- To coordinate and collaborate with wind turbine manufacturing, installation and service engineering groups and to support quality and purchasing departments.
- Specification of materials for offshore wind turbines in order to guarantee minimum allowable values of mechanical and physical characteristics.
- Development, identification and deployment of new materials for offshore wind turbines in cooperation with suppliers.
- Definition of materials testing according to certification bodies and international standards.
- Elaboration of test reports and delivery of material properties for wind turbine systems design.
- Identification of potential improvements and development of cost effective and innovative technical solutions.
- Analysis and assessment of the design, reliability and quality of the supplied products.
- Participation in the design verification, testing, validation and certification of the mechanical systems for offshore wind turbines.
- Compilation and elaboration of risk assessments, FMEAs, tests and validation plans.
Qualifications
- University degree in materials engineering.
- Several years of experience in development of wind turbine systems.
- Experience in offshore systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of metallic materials engineering: manufacturing processes, commercial materials, testing techniques, etc.
- Knowledge on corrosion phenomena and surface protection systems (painting and metalizing).
- Knowledge of risk assessment, FMEA, testing and validation strategies regarding materials and protection systems durability.
- Basics on composite materials and materials for sealing systems are welcome.
General requirements

- Due to the nature of the assignments undertaken by our customer you will work in an environment that promotes autonomy and initiative, requiring a flexible attitude. Above all, you will have a desire to progress.
- Willing to work very closely to the team members (design, loads, etc.) and the rest of components specialists.
- Capacity for collaboration with suppliers and industry partners to meet the design to cost targets.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced team environment and to collaborate effectively.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Good command of English (written and spoken). German and Spanish are welcome.
- Willingness for occasional traveling.
Conditions
Type of Position: Full Time Permanent Capsulas de cafe compatibles
Place: Bremen (Germany)
Salaries:
- Up to 3 Years experience: 45-55k€ per year, dependent upon experience.
- 3-10 Years experience: 55-80k€ per year, dependent upon experience
- (Net salary is between 65% for lower incomes and 55% for higher incomes of gross. German proficiency makes a difference of +/-5%)
- Included in the package: benefits such as 50% company contribution towards medical aid, travel, unemployment insurance and pension contribution.
